I start by saying that Benny Hinn is not Jesus Christ nor an angel of the Almighty God. There is nothing to indicate also that he lays claim to be either Jesus Christ or an Angel. Furthermore, I wish to state that, over the years, I have had more contacts with him more through his tapes and books (including the most popular GOOD MORNING HOLY SPIRIT). What cannot be denied, however, is that he is one of the world’s christian leaders. It goes without saying, therefore, that when a person of his stature makes an observation and is bold enough to ACT on it, one cannot but be gladdened that there is still hope within. This brings us to the question of his recent observation that the GOSPEL OF OUR LORD JESUS is being UNDULY COMMERCIALIZED and the boldness he demonstrated by coming OPENLY in the presence of his congregation that he was leaving GAIN IS GODLINESS camp for good. This COURAGEOUS act is not only commendable but is also WORTHY OF EMULATION by christian leaders especially in an environment like Nigeria with overemphasis on SENSELESS ACCUMULATION OF VANITIES at the expense of the central teaching of the GOSPEL OF OUR LORD! Almost without exception, the CANKERWORM has eaten deeply into every known DENOMINATION in the body of Christ. Apart from the competition regarding the RICHEST PASTOR in a poverty-ridden environment like Nigeria, the BODY LANGUAGE of Christian leaders in the country belies what is done on the pulpit. In fact. The usual tendency of PRETENTION and keeping mum over sensitive issues that affect the christian community is clearly seen in the bombshell thrown by Brother Benny Hinn. To many of these leaders, his observation and the PROMPT ACTION by this irrepressible preacher should not be popularized because it is CAPABLE OF ROCKING THE BOAT and making the BUSINESS less financially attractive. However, the fact that the dirty items are swept under the carpet does not remove the fact it is capable of constituting danger to the lives of the inhabitants! Meanwhile, the undue emphasis placed on PAYMENT OF TITHES, GIVING OF OFFERINGS and SOWING OF SEEDS (that have refused to yield the fruits of Galatians 5:22-23) should be a source of concern to any HEAVENLY-MINDED disciple of JESUS CHRIST. I am of the opinion that if we devote fifty percent of the time that are used accumulating VANITIES to GENUINE EVANGELISM, we will experience the TRANSFORMATIONAL POWER of the GOSPEL of our LORD and SAVIOUR.
